Yet, beneath the surface lies a deeper question: Is life governed by chance, or are we active participants in creating our own destiny?

The piece serves as a visual meditation on the relationship between the conscious and subconscious mind. It asks us to examine the beliefs, fears, and instincts that quietly influence our decisions long before we are aware of them. Every risk we take, every leap of faith, and every opportunity we embrace becomes another roll of the dice4but perhaps the hand we are given is shaped as much by our inner landscape as by fate itself.

Blending layers of texture, symbolism, and abstraction, Role of the Dice challenges the viewer to reflect on the nature of uncertainty. It invites us to consider whether life is a series of random events or an unfolding dialogue between intention, intuition, and courage.

Ultimately, the work proposes that while we may never control the outcome of the roll, we always have the power to decide whether we are willing to play.

At the center, a suspended figure exists between stillness and awakening. Her faceless form is intentional – an invitation for the viewer to see themselves within her. The radiant sun in place of her head represents her true nature: powerful, constant, and ever-present, even when obscured.

The butterfly serves as a sacred messenger – a gentle whisper of transformation and remembrance. It symbolizes the many ways guidance finds us: through the universe, our ancestors, loved ones, or even a passing moment that calls us back to ourselves.

Along the shadowed edge, subtle emerging forms reflect the internal dialogue – the quiet voices of doubt and insecurity that attempt to pull us away from our truth.

And still – she rises.

This work is a nine-panel exploration of emotional triggers, reactions and consequences: fear, ego, envy, rage, guilt, shame, doubt, scarcity, and lack of peace. Each panel represents a psychological interruption, a familiar internal surge that seeks immediate expression.

But this piece is not about the emotions themselves. It is about what happens just before we act on them.

In that fraction of time, there is a choice.

A pause. A space.

Each panel captures the raw, unfiltered energy of reaction – the chaos, the distortion, the urgency. The eyes that appear throughout the work symbolize awareness: the ever-present witness within us that sees, even when we are consumed.

This is not a resolution, but more so an interruption. A call to awareness.

Because in that space (however brief) exists the possibility of transformation.

Present But Unseen reflects the presence of spiritual guardians that exist beyond physical visibility yet remain deeply active in our lives.

The left panel embodies dual masculine and feminine energies — ancestral forces that create, protect, and sustain. From this union emerges the singular figure in the right panel: a primary guardian presence. The diptych represents the birthing of higher-frequency guidance — an unseen protector that walks beside us, influences our path, and operates beyond the limits of the material world.

‘Members Only After Midnight draws inspiration from the late-night cultural ecosystem of Washington, DC’s once-infamous House of Secrets – an era-defining, invitation-only social enclave where live music, film, performance, and immersive nightlife coexisted until dawn for those who knew how to find it.

Evoking the sensation of arriving on a rain-soaked night and quietly slipping inside a private, after-hours social club, the work invites viewers into a world where music, conversation, and curated indulgence unfold across a series of distinct, immersive rooms. Within this nocturnal setting, patrons move fluidly between spaces designed to satisfy a range of tastes and interests – from live piano and vinyl-spun jazz to hip-hop, card games, cigar lounges, and late-night performance. Showgirls dance, collectors’ records line the walls, and art-filled interiors create an environment where sound, style, and storytelling coexist.

Throughout the composition, classic albums and cultural references anchor the atmosphere, while a quietly commanding hostess presides over the evening’s rhythm, ensuring that hospitality and exclusivity remain in perfect balance. A private door tucked away in the back hints at deeper access beyond the visible scene.

Blurring the boundaries between performance, connection, and escape, KRice captures the seductive rhythm of moving room-to-room within a world where time softens, identities expand, and participation becomes performance – offering a retreat where guests are invited to disappear into music, mood, and shared experience until morning.

Never Been Ordinary is a 36 x 54 mixed media work on birch wood and framed in Italian rustic molding. This piece pays tribute to Sade – an artist whose presence, restraint, and quiet power have long resonated with me.

Through repetition and bold variation, I explore iconography and identity, echoing a Warhol-like rhythm while maintaining my own symbolic language. Layers of acrylic, oil stick, resin, and mixed media create depth, texture, and luminosity, reinforcing the idea that individuality can exist within repetition.

This work honors the power of being timeless, composed, and unapologetically distinct.

The Bell of Discernment explores the quiet authority that emerges after life’s trials — the kind of wisdom that cannot be taught, only earned.

The figure at the center bears visible marks of adversity — layered, disrupted, and imperfect — yet remains upright, present, and aware. His gaze reflects lived experience: a keen eye shaped by loss, endurance, faith, and healing. What once overwhelmed him now informs him.

The yellow boundary functions as a symbolic threshold — a bell that rings not with sound, but with clarity. It represents discernment: the moment when chaos no longer dictates direction, and awareness becomes protection. Within this space, the figure learns to listen differently — choosing what enters his spirit and what no longer serves him.

Music becomes a form of sanctuary. The headphones signify intentional focus, inner alignment, and self-preservation — a refusal to absorb external noise while healing is still underway. Though bruised, the figure is not broken. Though tested, he remains joyful.

At its core, The Bell of Discernment is a meditation on resilience, spiritual surrender, and earned wisdom. It speaks to the quiet prayers whispered in moments of exhaustion — the simple plea for guidance — and the profound clarity that follows when faith, experience, and self-awareness converge.

This work honors the truth that healing is not the absence of scars, but the presence of understanding.
