Summer seems to have passed in the blink of an eye, and somehow, fall is already upon us. In this edition of Insider with Kim Rice, I’m sharing a few of the things currently inspiring me – from art, design, food, culture, and global real estate to experiences that simply feel worth discovering.

One project I’m especially excited about is The Art of Living Beautifully, a private immersive evening I’m producing and co-curating this November in Washington, D.C. It will bring together so many of the worlds I LOVE: art, décor and design, fragrance, champagne, conversation, and music. Guests will experience a fragrance maison, a phenomenal DJ creating an eclectic, transportive sound, my artwork as KRice throughout the space, and a beautifully curated atmosphere designed to be felt as much as seen. Think great taste, great sound, beautiful surroundings, good energy, and an evening meant to engage all the senses.
I’m also looking forward to sharing more about the Porsche Design Tower Bangkok Bangkok, currently underway in Thailand and marking the very first Porsche Design residential development in Asia. It is such an exciting intersection of architecture, luxury, design, and global real estate, and I’m thrilled to include a closer look in this issue.
This edition brings together a little bit of everything I love, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to enjoy it. I hope you discover something that inspires you, surprises you, or simply makes you want to experience more.

“WHEN SHE FORGETS SHE IS THE SUN”

I created “When She Forgets She Is the Sun” this Summer, during a season in my own life when, apparently, I needed a reminder of exactly who I was.

Sometimes we spend so much time giving, building, creating, loving, and simply moving through life that we momentarily lose sight of our own light. This piece became my way of remembering – to pick myself up, reconnect with my strength, and recognize that the light I was searching for was never somewhere outside of me.
Creating it was both deeply personal and incredibly freeing. It remains one of the most meaningful works I created this summer, and I’m especially excited that it will be among a selection of my works featured during the private event in D.C. this November.

If you know me, you know how much I love traveling the world – and wherever my travels take me, I’m always excited to connect with and continue building relationships with my Sotheby’s International Realty colleagues around the globe. And while I’ve long been a lover of Thai food, I can now say that I’ve completely fallen in love with Thailand itself.

My time in Bangkok has allowed me to develop wonderful relationships with my Sotheby’s colleagues there and to learn more about some of the extraordinary projects transforming the city’s luxury real estate landscape. One that I’m especially excited about is Porsche Design Tower Bangkok, being developed by the highly regarded Ananda Development, whose innovative approach to luxury design and thoughtfully conceived projects has made them an exciting force in Thailand’s real estate market.
Set to become the first Porsche Design residential development in Asia, this remarkable project will offer just 22 freehold Sky Villa residences. From the innovative private Passion Spaces to the precision engineering and timeless architecture, technology, and meticulous attention to detail, virtually every aspect of the development has been designed to create an experience that goes far beyond the traditional definition of luxury living.
I’m delighted to work with my colleagues in Bangkok and the Ananda Development team to help introduce this extraordinary opportunity to buyers and investors on this side of the world. Later this year, I’m also looking forward to returning to Bangkok for the launch of their new immersive presentation space – an environment being created to allow prospective owners to experience the vision, materials, design, and lifestyle of Porsche Design Tower Bangkok before stepping into the completed residences.

My Restaurant Pick: Albi | Washington, D.C

Every once in a while, I experience a restaurant that I immediately want to tell my favorite people about – and Albi is absolutely one of them. Led by Palestinian American chef Michael Rafidi, this extraordinary Washington, D.C. restaurant is a celebration of Palestinian heritage, elevated through beautiful fine dining, live-fire cooking, warm hospitality, and an incredible attention to detail.

And apparently, I’m not alone in thinking it’s exceptional. In 2026, Albi made history as the first restaurant outside New York City ever to receive a coveted four-star review from The New York Times – the newspaper’s highest and exceptionally rare restaurant rating. It was also named Washingtonian’s No. 1 restaurant for the second consecutive year, and ranked No. 6 on North America’s 50 Best Restaurants, earning the distinction of Best Restaurant in Northeast USA.
My experience? Absolutely incredible. The service was impeccable, and the barbecue lamb kebab was to die for. What really impressed me was the attention to every detail -even the bathroom, with burning incense, candlelight, beautiful hand towels, and thoughtfully selected soap and lotion. The entire experience felt intentional.
If you’re reading Insider, you’re one of my special people, so trust me on this one: when you’re in D.C., you gotta go to Albi. Reservations are tough to get, so plan ahead. I already can’t wait to go back.
