The People on the Train explores the quiet collision of human experiences that occurs within a shared space. On any given ride, one person may be celebrating, another grieving, someone rushing toward what they love, while someone else dreads where they are going. We sit inches apart, yet inhabit entirely different worlds.

Through layered faces, fragmented forms, bold color, and gestures reminiscent of urban graffiti, KRice captures the multiplicity of emotion moving through a single moment. The work considers the strangers we encounter every day—the lives we briefly intersect with but may never truly know.

At its core, The People on the Train is an observation of humanity in transit: physically moving from one place to another while simultaneously carrying our histories, desires, anxieties, secrets, and hopes with us.
