This piece was inspired by one of my first conversations with Tone (Antone White, owner of Our City). It was about Loyalty and I never forgot it.

The DC flag elements at the top ground the painting in Washington, DC. The central figure represents a man who has overcome challenges, stayed connected to his roots, and now uses his influence to create opportunities for others. The heart at the center symbolizes his love for the city and its people.

The feminine figure represents balance, support, and the people who stand beside us through life’s journey. Together, they symbolize the power of relationships built on trust, respect, and loyalty.

The movement and energy throughout the painting reflect the spirit of DC, while the faded buildings below acknowledge a changing city. Through it all, the figure stands firm in his commitment to the people and places he loves.

For me, this painting is about redemption, purpose, and remaining loyal to your community no matter how much life changes around you.

Her tear is visible. Her burden is real. Her crown is imperfect.
